Option 1 - WAKEFIELD STEAM TRAIN
Depart: 12:30 pm – from the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel

On this exciting
tour, you'll take an unforgettable journey into the past on board
one of Canada’s last remaining authentic steam-powered trains.
You’ll travel a short distance by motor coach to the bi-centennial
city of Gatineau where you’ll board the Wakefield Steam Train
for a scenic 64km journey along the banks of the sinuous Gatineau
River. You'll travel in grand style in the Riviera Car, a fully
refurbished luxury car. Bilingual tour guides share their knowledge
of the region’s history and the train’s own minstrels
introduce you to local folklore as they stroll about the coaches
spouting lively tunes and tales. Your ticket includes:

at Les Trois Érables Inn in Wakefield at your leisure

Your 90-minute
train ride ends in the picturesque village of Wakefield, Québec.
Upon arrival in Wakefield, you’ll witness the spectacular
pivoting of the 93-ton steam locomotive on Canada’s only operating
manual turntable. Many unique arts and crafts shops await you in
Wakefield and you’ll have two hours to explore the village
at your leisure before the return train trip to Gatineau. A motor
coach will return you to the hotel following the train journey.

Option 2 – Haunted Walk

Fee: $25 + GST
Join your "ghostly"
tour guide for a unique and fascinating historical walking tour
of Ottawa’s downtown core. On this Haunted Walk, stroll through
the streets while your guide regales you with stories of the ghosts
of the Bytown Museum, Chateau Laurier and Lisgar Collegiate. The
tour captures the unique “darker history” of the city
and let’s you see some of Ottawa’s historic sites up
close. This tour is suitable for all ages and encompasses a distance
of 1.5 km at a comfortable pace. Please note that should the tour
be canceled due to severe/extreme weather conditions, you will be
reimbursed in full. |
